sports massage

Client with Gluteal Tendonitis- 1.5 years after we started training. October 2023.

Stretch shown below was what we focused on for the 1st year alone; (no intense exercises).

Wasn’t able to get leg off the floor for 6 months due to how tense her glutes were. She was standing a-lot for work.

The massage technique shown above in the document wasn’t how I massaged this client; but I have for clients in the past, who don’t have gluteal tendonitis; (getting them to lay on the side while massaging is more to help relieve pelvic pain like with clients with endometriosis) and need more circulation to move better.

Chronic injuries

Training with chronic injuries can be very challenging; in these sessions we focus on better circulation, to relax the central nervous system and its connection to the inflamed muscles causing the pain.

Injuries I have trained and helped with;

  • Sciatica

  • Chronic nerve pain

  • General nerve pain

  • Knee pain

  • Back pain

  • PCOS pain

  • Pelvic pain

  • Endometriosis pain

  • Arthritis pain

Important note: these clients were all approved by physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and doctors prior to meeting and training with me.

what is involved in these massages?

Approach usually taken is through a lymphatic/ Swedish approach.

Relaxing the muscles through Swedish approach, (the approach which has been the most successful method on clients outside of sessions as well) can help to relax the muscles, and your mind, to allow more blood flow into those inflamed regions. (It almost acts like an anti-inflammatory response, when the body is stressed; and stress tend to be a major contributor towards injuries within the body; either from physical traumas or mental stress).

The style of massage I use is pressing 1-2 hands and shaking gently to moderate intensity.

Pressing with a gentle to moderate intensity allows the central nervous system to ‘relax enough’ to send the right signals to (via the affected nerves) the regions under a lot of muscular tension. Then, by shaking off the muscle (gently to moderate), usually allows the brain to relax more, and send more blood to those affected regions.
